While filming downtown Los Angeles on a Saturday a young Latino skateboarder was stabbed in the neck by a gutter punk for bumping shoulders with him. With no warning and obviously no conscience, the punker stabbed the 15 year old boy in the neck from behind and then ran to catch a bus. This photo was taken about 1 minute after the stabbing,Benny Fairfax seen here skating.

talked to the police for the young skaters, as their English wasn’t the best. I could see that his face was turning a strange color from his frantically scared friend whom was tying a shirt around his neck to stop the bleeding. The police came, an ambulance came, he got sent off, we got questioned, we got kicked out for skateboarding, we went home.We all left with a bad feeling but I’m pretty sure he lived.

The number of high fives I have received due to my Democratic-Leadership-Senator-Barack-Obama pin (thank you Lissa Moon) has sky -rocketed in the last week! It went from an all time low of 2 - begining last month, and now has surpassed all expectations and has crossed the boundary into double digits. Thats right, 11 high fives.

It’s one thing to sit and complain about politics or regurgitate facts as if somehow knowing the problem exists - fixes it, but its another to just enjoy the simplicities of campaign promotion with some who feels the same as you. Strangers showing signs of respect to one another for their voting choice is amazing. Plus chicks dig Obama, once you go black…. I mean Barack.

I saw this gem while filming skateboarding in an abandoned casino in Puerto Allcudia, Mallorca.

“The entire place is run down and filled with remnants of drug users and simple vagrant fires. But 30 years ago when US and European travel was cheap this place a mecca for Mediterranean gamblers and ocean goers alike. Even Sinatra played here!”

Old Blue Eyes obviously couldn’t save the island, but he did create a amazing skate spot.

I went to New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Boston this summer on tour with DVS Shoe Company. It was so hot my cameras fogged from the sweat of the kids around me there to see the skate demo. The air was still all around and felt as if it had just left someone else’s mouth before entering mine. These are some of the photo’s that I came back with. This is the video we made from the tour demo’s.

I went to Brazil this past summer on skate trip, John helped make the DVD that went out in The Skateboard Mag, I found these photos from the trip and thought they should see the light of day. The girl in the photo is pregnant and must be some where around 17 years old. She saw that I had a camera and showed me she wanted me to shoot her photo. Her friend joined and it made for a strange situation. I was just minding my own business shooting some 16mm on the beach and ended up going home with border line kiddy porn. But Brazil was beautiful in a way no words can describe, it had some of the most naturally amazing places I had ever seen, and also some of the darkest and most stricken by poverty.

I saw this and thought how I’m going to explain to anyone French or Italian that the American public is actually very smart and open minded to other cultures and languages. But thats not true is it. Apparently we cant even order coffee.

Watch out if your planning on visiting the East Pinnacles National Forrest, well if your not a land owning white American male with from the south. After I shot this the owner came out and asked me if I was looking at his flag. I said yeah and drove off as he wrote down my license plate number.
