Matt Mignanelli August 20th

Matt Mignanelli’s paintings have been shown throughout the United States and internationally at such galleries as MILK Gallery in New York City, The Pure Project in New York City, Recoat Gallery in Glasgow, Scotland, Global Gallery in Sydney, Australia and MFK Galerie in Berlin, Germany. His work has also appeared in numerous publications such as GQ (UK edition), Dazed & Confused, Time Out: Chicago, the Norwegian magazine Mann, Honolulu Magazine, New York Press, Revolutionart, The Dubliner, and Vallarta Lifestyles. He has also completed murals for Nickelodeon and CITYarts.

Marcus Burrowes July 23rd

Marcus Burrowes was born in Kingston, Jamaica. Raised in the Rasta faith, he was heavily influenced by Jamaican reggae culture. As a child he was drawn to the art he saw on the album covers of his favorite reggae artists, which fired his creative passion and led him to experiment with art. He later moved from Kingston to California, living in both Santa Monica and Venice Beach then his painting eventually led him to New York’s Parsons School of Design. Marcus is also the founder of and creative force behind Rockers NYC, and has since done merchandise design for Mad Cobra, Santogold, The Roots, and Blood Brothers, and collaborations with photographer Shawn Mortensen, SPIN, Vibe, Cassette Playa, Swagger, Maharishi, and Vanguard. His work is also featured in the Draw Show currently hanging in the Museo Nacional de Arte in Mexico City.

The time has come! Crystal Townsend will be curating the “AWESOME NUMBER ONE BIG FUN GROUP SHOW!” tonight at Medicine Agency. The show will work from over 40 artists including Meds natives Greg Mike, Serge Gay Jr., Oliver Black, and Mike Giant. And of course, free drinks provided by Blue Angel Vodka and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Beryl Fine “DIRTY GLAMOUR”

Beryl Fine is bringing her photography to the Meds Gallery! Come by for some for some free drinks on Friday, June 4th at 8pm.

In my collection DIRTY GLAMOUR I have taken the female form and allowed these sexual entities to take their own shape, creating a space that embodies a less than archetypal strength and power. Along with the sexually charged imagery of the female embodiment of femininity I also draw from my Divas series of transsexual/ cross dressers. These lovely ladies have transcended the gender barrier re-contextualizing sex and the borders of gender. Rather than weak, innocent and coy I present a modern woman; one that exudes strength, possesses power and demands identity of self. – Beryl Fine

Giovanni Reda’s “Demigods and Cosmic Children” book release May28th

Hailing from the cultural mecca of Brooklyn and now living in Los Angeles, Giovanni Reda, has spent the last few years of his life working on the vast portrait project “Demigods and Cosmic Children” while traveling with and photographing the worlds top skateboarders. The project, which includes photographs of personal friends and celebrities – artists, actors, musicians and skaters is compiled into the book published by OH WOW.

Medicine Agency is proud to present the release of “Demigods and Cosmic Children” with a showing of Reda’s favorite photographs from the book on Friday May 28^th.
