MEDS 2009: sleep is not an option
While we kept relatively quiet about our dealings in the later half of 2008, we’re ready to scream out loud about the stuff we’ve got brewing for 2009. For those of you who didn’t know, Rama Mayo (United Trade Show, Big Wheel Recreation, Tarantulas Records) is our new President. He manages new business and day-to-day operations for all MEDICINE AGENCY partners’ projects.

Giovanni Reda is one of the top most published photographers in skateboarding today. He’s been behind the camera traveling with and documenting the world’s professionals for the last decade in magazines like Thrasher, Transworld, The Skateboard Mag, Skateboarder and Slap. Most of his fans probably know Reda as lead character in EA Games’ SKATE video game franchise but he’s also the man behind the camera in the incredibly popular webisodes, “Wednesdays with Reda”, viewed by millions monthly on Steve Berra & Eric Koston’s website, theberrics.com. We will be producing Reda’s new book “Demigods and Cosmic Children” for release by the holidays of 2009 and a new website by summer-time.
DURKL, the Washington DC based clothing company is working on their 8th collection. After the tremendous success of their campaign with Parisian pop-star, Yelle, DURKL has decided to launch an entire music program. We will be launching the new site we designed for them this month, complete with podcasting, an e-store and additional features. We will also be developing a marketing, sales & pr campaign for DURKL’s Spring & Fall 2009 clothing collections.
Black Klown Clothier is the luxury fashion label of two-time Superbowl winner Tully Banta-Cain. Every Black Klown Clothier design is fine art. A full scale painting is reproduced on a garment made from the highest quality fabrics, hand-dyed using dead bugs and flowers. We are developing a pr & sales campaign to launch the brand’s second seasonal collection that will be hitting stores this spring.
The Instant Messengers have been in the recording studio working on a series of singles to be released monthly starting this spring. We are producing a series of music videos to coincide with the releases and a full US tour including dates at SXSW & Winter Music Conference. Alexander Spit from The Instant Messengers is putting the finishing touches on his debut solo album titled “Open 24 Hours” which is planned to be released by the end of the year.
Young Murph (Murphy Holmes) is a sensation in the Bay Area hip-hop community because of his unique style and progressive songwriting. Murph has done recent collaborations with Mistah F.A.B. and D.Willz. He has also appeared on two Bay Area television sports show last month, including a highlight reel for the Golden State Warriors. Murph is currently in the recording studio mixing demos for his debut album.
I Heart Skateboarding is the first video from Street Pirate Films, a new skate film company out of Los Angeles. The video features LA’s most progressive amateurs and is certain to be one of the year’s most talked skate films. Check out their blog and watch a trailer soon on streetpiratefilms.com
