Kelly Allen – art preview

Artist Kelly Allen has been making quite a stir recently with her painting on laser cut steel seen here which she will be bringing to the Meds Gallery on March 19th, 2009.

Grand Rapids, Michigan is hosting an open art contest where the winner will receive the largest art prize in the world, $250,000.  ArtPrize was created by Rick DeVos (heir to the Amway empire), and invites artists of all kinds from around the world to participate in an unprecedented competition that will award nearly one-half million dollars to prize winners, including $250,000 to the artist who receives the most public votes.  “It’s time to reboot the conversation between artists and the public. ArtPrize will be a celebration of art, design, and innovation that will bring artists and the public together like never before,” said ArtPrize creator Rick DeVos.  In a nutshell, the city of Grand Rapids will be transformed into one HUGE art gallery with a goal to bring artists and the public together.
