Marcus Burrowes was born in Kingston, Jamaica. Raised in the Rasta faith, he was heavily influenced by Jamaican reggae culture. As a child he was drawn to the art he saw on the album covers of his favorite reggae artists, which fired his creative passion and led him to experiment with art. He later moved from Kingston to California, living in both Santa Monica and Venice Beach then his painting eventually led him to New York’s Parsons School of Design. Marcus is also the founder of and creative force behind Rockers NYC, and has since done merchandise design for Mad Cobra, Santogold, The Roots, and Blood Brothers, and collaborations with photographer Shawn Mortensen, SPIN, Vibe, Cassette Playa, Swagger, Maharishi, and Vanguard. His work is also featured in the Draw Show currently hanging in the Museo Nacional de Arte in Mexico City.
